Coffee Ice Cubes for Cold Drinks: Ice That Adds Flavor Instead of Water
Turn safely handled leftover coffee into cubes for iced milk coffee, blended drinks and cold brews.

Coffee cubes solve dilution but should never become an excuse to keep old coffee for days. Begin with pleasant coffee, chill it promptly and freeze it the same day.
Recipe at a glance
Yield: One 12-cube tray
Time: 5 minutes plus freezing
Best coffee: Clean freshly brewed coffee or coffee chilled promptly
Ingredients
- 300 ml brewed coffee
- Clean ice tray with lid or a storage bag
Method
- Chill coffee in a shallow container or over an ice bath.
- Pour into a clean tray without filling to the rim.
- Freeze until completely solid.
- Unmold and store in a dated sealed container.
- Use four to six cubes per glass.
Why this ratio works
As cubes melt, they maintain concentration. Sealed storage prevents freezer odors.
Adjust it without losing the coffee
Freeze black coffee for maximum versatility. Avoid freezing milk coffee; add fresh milk to the glass when serving.
Troubleshooting
Cloudy cubes are normal. Freezer flavor means open or overly long storage; discard them and clean the tray.
Serve and store safely
Freeze the same day, label and use within two weeks for best quality. Discard coffee left at room temperature for many hours.
